What is Going On With Us

As always it takes me forever to update- so I have much to report about here at the Barber House!
We had a great Easter! Between egg hunts at school, home and Nana's house on Easter Sunday-we have enough candy to last us through the summer!
Logan had a blast with his First Grade Classmates at the annual MRA Elementary Spring Field day! They participated in all sorts of games and competed for bragging rights- but generally just goofed off and enjoyed a fun day without school work! Chad had as much fun as they did leading Simon Says!
Our little Will graduated from Kindergarten! I cannot believe that our three years in the Kindergarten have ended! Wow time flies when you are having fun! I'm still in shock that starting this fall I will have two in the elementary building.
Logan ended the year with a super fun pool party with his first grade classmates. The sno-cones where at hit- as well at the luau theme.
Lastly, Memphis in May International Festival World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest was fantastic. The Sofa King Smokers competed against over 100 teams in the rib category and in their first trip to this contest came in 10th place! They were so excited! We had a blast in Memphis and enjoyed time spent with the other teams- especially our great friends the Southeastern Smokers.

Cub Scouts

Logan had a great time with Scouts this year!
Two highlights were the Pinewood Derby and the Blue & Gold Banquet.

Spring 2009

Wow Friends-CrAzY!!!
It has been a while since I've posted what's up with the Barber Family!
Everyone knows life can be hectic and that is why it has taken me months to sit down and post! So I'm hitting a few "high points" with words- the details are in the slide shows!
The past three months have included several fun events!
First, the boys played Upward Basketball- this was fantastic! I think the parents enjoyed it more than the children!
Also in January, the girls took the usual "MLK" trip to Gulf Shores- which is always a blast - with 22 girls in one house how could it not be a great time!
Will and his Kindergarten Class entertained us with their fantastic Under the Big Top performance. Will did a great job as a popcorn vendor.
We woke up one morning this spring with a blanket of snow- well sort of! No matter how much snow we had- the boys thought it was a blizzard!
A major highlight this spring is the Sofa King Smokers Cooking Team! The boys have teamed up with Bone Suckin' Sauce this year for a fantastic combination! Chad and John Mark traveled down to Alexandria, La and brought home a 2nd Place trophy in ribs! Huge- You know how men like the "hardware"(and how I love pig trophies on my mantle for one week -then on display in the garage) Oh and the check- which we need to cover Memphis in May!!
So as you can see CrAzY here at the Barber house!!!!- I have more but I'm done for today!

Trip to NOLA

We were lucky enough to make the boys first trip to New Orleans at the end of December.
Eli Miciello invited Logan, Jake Magers and Sara Carson Hailey to spend his 7th birthday with him in NOLA- their siblings were lucky enough to get tag along on the adventure!
Ms Jen and Mr Chris showed us a great time!
We got to New Orleans late in the evening and enjoyed a trip to City Park to see the lights and ride the train. Then, we had the traditional cake ceremony and singing in of Eli's big seven in the hotel room! We were then off to bed to rest up for our big day of fun.
We started our day on a walking tour of the Riverwalk from our hotel to Cafe Du Monde where we bought bags and bags of those wonderful powdered goodies. We then took our treats to Jackson Square for a beignet picnic. The kids though the beignets were AWESOME- of course we adults were in agreement. We had a ball playing in the grass and enjoying the warm day. Mr Kevin had the most fun when the kids decided to attack him!
We then went to the Aquarium of the Americans to see the sights. The kids were excited with every turn as they explored all of the aquarium animals. We got the opportunity to pet an iguana and a baby shark! The otter was a big hit- he was too cute swimming and playing in his tank. The play area at the end was the icing on the birthday cake! But the trip to the gift shop pushed the fun over the edge!
It was a blast and we give big thanks to the Miciellos for a time well had by all!

Fun In New Orleans

Christmas Tour

We enjoyed our whirl wind we call Christmas!!
We kicked it off with the Barber Family on the Saturday before Christmas with a lunch and ended that day with dinner at Nana Edwards house. It was a full day of family fun. The boys always have so much fun when they get to hang out with their cousins. How can they not have a blast with all of those boys! Oh and Taylor too!!
With two days off to recover a bit, the Morgans rolled in for two days of fun with the rowdy cousins! They once again enjoyed being rowdy with boys! They had a huge sleepover in the playroom - we are pretty sure they never actually slept!
We spent a wonderful Christmas Eve with just our fantastic four. We cooked out, opened our gifts (mom's i phone rocks!), decorated cookies for Santa and attempted to go to bed early in anticipation of the big guy making his visit!
Once again Santa did not disappoint! The Wii we all asked for this year was a hit! We spent the day bowling and playing tennis! Dad rocked us with his guitar skills- the boys had to beg for a turn!
Pa and Lizzy Barber joined us for Christmas Day lunch and even Pa was charmed by the magical Wii. He had as much fun as the kids boxing and bowling!
Ahhh the night of the 25th we all slept very well! See ya next year Santa!!

Cross Creek Christmas

We had a great time over the Christmas Holidays here in THE Cross Creek!
Manda and Tommy James hosted their annual Happy Birthday Jesus party. The children loved getting together and celebrating the birthday of Christ. A visit from old St Nick topped off the evening. Everyone was eager to tell Santa what they were wishing to find under the tree Christmas morning.
We spent one afternoon decorating cookies at Mrs Katie Mager's house. The children couldn't get enough sugar sprinkles, frosting or candy on their cookie creations. We then topped off this good time with a "snowball" fight in the backyard!

MRA Christmas Parties

Will's Guest Reader

In honor of Will's birthday, his big brother Logan made a visit to his classroom to read a story to Will and his friends. Will was so proud to have his very special visitor and Logan was so excited to share his talent with Mrs People's class.

Happy 6th Birthday Will

Will celebrated his 6th birthday with a Make Your Own Pizza Party at our house one Friday afternoon in December. Will and his buddies had a blast making pizzas- and even more fun eating their cheesy creations.

Will is 6!

Cub Scouts In The Christmas Parade

Logan and his Cub Scout troop had a blast participating in the Madison Christmas Parade. They were too cute as they rolled by waving and smiling on their float. They were super excited about throwing candy- though I'm sure they ate more than they threw.
